Jio Working With Microsoft on Project xCloud Game Streaming Service

MDC Industry Chairman Mukesh Ambani recently sat down with Microsoft chief Satya Nadella during a Microsoft Desoded event in Mumbai. They exchanged ideas about their contribution to different communities. one of the exciting topics of the discussion was the games and as part of the discussion, Ambani revealed that Jio is working on bringing xCloud to India. While Ambani did not share details, his comments suggest that the telecommunications carrier has partnered with Microsoft to launch ProjCloud's game streaming service. How it will be absorbed into the body or there is always some uncertainty.

Nadella made a joke during an interview hearing that over the next 10 years, Ambani could be a game changer. In his reply, Ambani shared that although the games are not really in India, there is great potential.

Ambani said, "Gaming is not really in India so everything we do with xCloud and our Broadband connection, I feel like there is a huge opportunity for a few who don't know what games are."

While the discussion between the two seems to stimulate the growth of gaming in the country, it is unclear what Jio's contribution will be, in terms of bringing Project xCloud to India.

We've reached out to Jio and Microsoft which have been clarified more about their partnership and can review this report if we hear back.

Project xCloud is a Microsoft computer game streaming service that allows players to stream games on a variety of devices including phones and tablets. These games are distributed on a Microsoft server and users do not have to download large game files as they usually need to be downloaded from consoles and PCs. The service is currently in beta and Microsoft is providing limited access to Android and iOS users. and is limited to the US, UK, and South Korea, currently. Microsoft says it will launch Project xCloud in India and other markets by 2020.

Stadia, which is Google's answer to Microsoft's video game streaming, in addition survives Android and iOS. It promises up to 4K and 60fps streaming with 5.1 surround sound and HDR. The service is available in 14 countries, but India is not one among them.
